Among the products that they offer, we tried two varieties of their cake slices. Let's take a look at the reviews of our conscientious critics.
1. Presentation and Appearance of the Cake
Cake 1: Red Velvet Cheesecake
Sometimes, your Red Velvet cheesecake cravings just hit you real hard that you just have to get a slice as soon as possible. It’s a good thing that Corner Bakery is that reliable store where you can get delicious and decent Red Velvet Cheesecakes at an affordable price! (P105/slice) For our critique, the cake has a very pretty dark red color. Although the red velvet cake itself was moist, it had no identifiable and unique flavor along with it, rather it just tasted so plain compared to other notable red velvet cheesecakes. Additionally, the frosting is not too sweet and creamy. However, the cream cheese has a unique and surprising flavor. Overall, if you want a cake that won’t fill you up, go for this red velvet cheesecake at Corner Bakery.
Cake 2: Salted Caramel Cake
No one’s ever too old for caramel! If you’re one of the many curious cake explorers within or nearby Cebu, then we suggest adding Corner Bakery’s Salted Caramel Cake to your list (P130/slice). The critics were able to identify a mish-mash of five distinct components such as its semi-sweet chocolate outer drip, sweet caramel frosting, salted caramel bits, rich chocolate sponge, and chocolate caramel filling. We must say that the ‘lusciously salty-sweet caramel filling’ is the main star of this treat. With just one bite, you'll be in chocolate and salted caramel nirvana!
Typically, the cakes we’ve featured were served on achromatic platters, but Corner Bakery does it differently. Their sweets are served on white rectangular-shaped eco-paper plates along with beige disposable sporks, which is actually great if you’re all in for #teamsustainability! And if you’re wondering about the mix of strong components in just one treat, we can surely attest that this two-layered cake isn’t difficult to take in at all. The caramel bits complement the frosting of the cake very well, not heavy on the tongue but it definitely gives a speck of that caramel kick you’re looking for. Final thoughts, this Salted Caramel Cake is ideal for special occasions such as birthdays or as a Christmas table centerpiece.
2. Staff / Employees
Good service by the employees does not only signify welcoming the customers with a happy look or a simple “thank you” and “please”, it's particularly far beyond that. Talking about Corner Bakery’s service crew, they were absolutely friendly, courteous, and accommodating. We just cannot get over how helpful the staff members were and how amazing and dedicated they were in serving the customers and the company they work for. Indeed, Corner Bakery’s staff created great working environments, thus increasing their overall productivity.
3. Store Ambiance (store layout, product display, music)
This bakery surprises you with a wide assortment of products.
Never has there been a place that’s made us want to dive headfirst into a table of baked goodies like Corner Bakery. From their slice bread, British loaf, Basque burnt cheesecake, croissants, chocolate cupcakes, chocolate chip cookies, and much more, you’ll be forgiven for spending far too much money in this unique bakery. As we entered our 5th sweet stop we immediately fell in love with their interior. Their mint green walls, modern lighting, and classy ceiling were absolutely welcoming, calming, and friendly making the whole place a complete vibe.
Delving into their product displays, we were way too stunned of how overwhelmingly good and bountiful their products were (heavy emphasis on their shelves of course). Baked goods enthusiasts can conveniently select whatever eye-catching treat they would want to take for themselves. They also have a good playlist which really sets you in the mood to indulge in some of their pastries and desserts. If you fancy a fresh breeze during your Corner Bakery experience, they have outdoor tables which we personally love as we took quick photos for our gram. All in all, this stop is easily one of the best places to go if you want to start your day right because of its pastel energy, which will set you up for a solid munch time.
4. Cleanliness of the Place
Corner Bakery maintains an exceptional standard of cleanliness and hygiene. This is evident in their excellent table cleaning service. Every time a customer leaves their table, the employees immediately clear the table and prepare it for the next customer. In addition, even though it was raining and no one was dining outside at the time, the bakery went above and above to provide a clean alfresco dining experience. You can clearly see that the tables and chairs outside are wiped down to ensure that they're dust-free. Indeed, Corner Bakery is taking all the necessary precautions to keep the store clean and hygienic for all.
