Among the products that they offer, we tried two varieties of their cakes. Let's take a look at the reviews of our conscientious critics.

1. Presentation and Appearance of the Cake

Cake 1: Abaca Chocolate Cake

If you are a die-hard chocolate advocate, this Chocolate Cake by Abaca Baking Co. should be your immediate go-to cake! No wonder many have already fallen under this certain chocolate cake’s spell, and it’s pretty obvious as to why (P180/slice). For starters, a huge serving size is good for two people already.

The towering chocolate block engages layers of rich chocolate icing and light sponge cake and it has a distinctly surprising chocolate flavor that lingers in your mouth for a few seconds, but does not overpower and saturate. Rather, the cake just leaves you wanting more for it is perfectly light and contains the right combination of sugary crumbs and dark chocolate kicks. Indeed, this cake is truly a masterpiece and undeniably ranks high on the mouthwatering scale, every bit as sinful, but so tasty and worth the extra calories. Basically, take just one bite of this Chocolate Cake by Abaca Baking Co. and you’ll be left with nothing but “hallelujah.”

Cake 2: Citrus Bundt Cake

All lemon lovers, unite! For our 8th Pastry Hopping experience, we proudly introduce to you one of our favorites. What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word, “zesty”? You probably have plenty of ideas since the term itself has earned a spot in some of the most widely used internet slangs. But if you ask us, Abaca Baking Co’s Citrus Bundt Cake is definitely on top of our ‘zesty’ thought list (P95/slice).

Let’s just cut to the chase, shall we? This citrus bundt cake is light, moist, and flavorful! Perfect for a quick afternoon snack or a casual Sunday morning dessert. This moist and tender glazed bundt goody is bursting with lemon flavor. It's like a bright ray of sunshine with just the right amount of tang to balance out the sweetness. The glaze itself complements the sponge very well and is the perfect finishing touch to this simple yet utterly delicious dessert. You can have it paired with a drink of your choice too if you want to intensify your Abaca experience. We would also like to point out that it is an ideal spring dessert and you won’t be able to get enough of it!

2. Staff / Employees

A courteous, jolly, and accommodating crew at your service.
That’s all that we can say about Abaca Baking Co.’s employees. We just cannot get over how accommodating the employees were and how amazing and dedicated they were in going the extra mile just to meet customers’ needs. Indeed, Abaca Baking Co’s staff created great working environments, thus increasing their overall productivity.

3. Store Ambiance (store layout, product display, music)

The hype surrounding Abaca Co is well-deserved.

This place has a neat product display of artisan goods as well as an attractive counter filled with more delicious treats. Dark undertones complement the rest of the elements in the room: wooden furniture, black-painted walls, rustic-chic décor and lighting, and artsy paintings. Other than that, the smell of Mediterranean food lingers through your senses! We must admit, the scent alone made us a bit famished, it smelled incredibly up to the mark!

We’ve also noticed that they have healthy and diet-friendly options so if you’re one of the many health-conscious individuals who’s up for mouth-watering meals and other goodies, we recommend stopping by Abaca Baking Co. In a more comparable note, the place also has a pleasant and comfortable atmosphere without unwanted disturbances. No wonder plenty of customers are always here just to enjoy the overall dining experience. However, given its popularity, many local customers and even tourists didn’t want to miss the experience as well, it was a bit crowded when we got there which may be off-putting if you’re looking for something more peaceful and work-friendly. Nevertheless, this 8th stop of ours is definitely worth visiting.

4. Cleanliness of the Place

Despite its high volume of customers, Abaca Baking Company ensures a comfortable dining experience for its customers by keeping its surroundings clean. This is apparent in their exceptional table clearing service. Tables are cleared as soon as customers finish their meals to prepare them for the next customer. Employees strive to maintain a clean and welcoming atmosphere for their customers. On the downside, the bakeshop/café does not seem dedicated to keeping the highest standards of food safety. In their pastry section, some baked goods have no covers or lids, so flies may land on the bread, and grubby fingers may touch and squeeze the bread before purchasing. This is a huge turnoff. They must clearly understand that, as part of the food industry, they are accountable for maintaining food safety. Overall, Abaca Baking Company is committed to ensuring a clean environment but has fallen short of making safe food a top priority.

5. Parking

Since Ayala Terraces, where Abaca Baking Company is located, has an ample amount of parking spaces available, finding a parking spot is easy. And they provide a safe parking experience for their customers. However, the walk from the parking area to the bakeshop/café is somewhat extensive. Walking for a longer distance may be great for some, but it may be inconvenient for others. Overall, there are no parking issues, only a long walk to the shop.
